The Onondaga County Health Department’s Cancer Services Program makes cancer screenings such as colonoscopy available for people who are uninsured or underinsured. Program coordinator Jenny Dickinson says about 40 percent of people skip colon cancer screening due to fear, embarrassment or other reasons — but lack of insurance should not be one of them.
Dickinson joined Upstate colorectal surgeons Jiri Bem, MD, and David Halleran, MD, on HealthLink on Air to talk about colorectal cancer screening during March, Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.
